Pauses

A Pause is the gap between two Statements.

When there was a pause, on average the Students waited 1.0 seconds after you stopped speaking to begin their turn. You typically waited 1.0 seconds to speak after the Students stopped.

In this lesson, 29.5% of Statements had Pauses between them.

Pauses typically indicate that a speaker is waiting for a response or thinking about how they want to respond. Given the type of lesson, would you expect many pauses between speakers? What about long pauses or periods of silence?

For a more detailed look at how pauses were distributed throughout your lesson, see the statement-by-statement Speech Map.
